NIU Winter Scooter Care

Winter is in full swing, and that means we need to take some extra precautions to stay safe and responsible while riding, especially when it comes to our beloved NIU electric scooters. Here are some helpful tips to help you enjoy your rides in the winter while also taking care of your scooter and battery life:

Protect Your Battery

One of the most important things to remember is to keep your battery indoors after use, where it is warm and dry. This is essential to protect the battery's lifespan, especially in the cold winter months. So make sure to store your battery in a warm and dry place after each cold-weather ride.

Keep Your Scooter Clean

With all the salt being spread on the roads to combat ice, it's important to clean your scooter regularly. Salt can be highly corrosive to your scooter and can even cause paint damage. Make sure to clean your scooter at least once a week, especially the rear frame and the area around the handlebars. This way, you'll keep your scooter free from rust and protect the paint. Also, consider using ACF-50 to protect exposed metal parts, but remember to avoid getting it on brakes and tyres!

Check Your Tire Pressure

Good tyre pressure is crucial, especially in winter conditions. Make sure to regularly check your tyre pressure and keep it at the recommended level of up to 2.2 bar. This will help you maintain maximum grip on the road.

Battery Maintenance for Long-Term Non-Use

If you won't be using your scooter for a long time, it's recommended to charge the battery to about 80% before storing it. Then, store the battery in a warm and dry place to maintain performance and extend its lifespan.

Ride Safe

In addition to protecting your scooter and battery, it's absolutely essential to ensure you ride safely, especially in winter conditions. Make sure you're always visible to other road users, wear warm and protective clothing, and adjust your speed to the conditions.

So there you have it, some simple yet extremely important tips to stay safe and responsible while riding your electric scooter, especially in winter. Be not only adventurous but also caring when it comes to maintaining and protecting your NIU scooter. Have fun and stay safe on the road!
